Methods of Therapy

Brainspotting (BSP)

An effective method for us to access unprocessed trauma is Brainspotting.  This method of therapy locates points in your visual field that correlate to unprocessed trauma and help bypass the standard therapy approach of verbal questions and answer.  From here, trauma can be processed directly from the non-verbal part of your brain, thus making this strategy an exciting way to connect on a much deeper level.

A message from Dr. David Grand, Ph D, founder of Brainspotting:

CBT

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy works to help us identify negative thoughts and how these thoughts impact our feelings and, in turn, our behaviors. The idea here is that if we are able to change our thoughts, we can drastically improve our feelings and behaviors. CBT is one of the most widely used therapeutic processes and can serve as a foundation for other therapies.

DBT

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is similar to CBT in that we do a lot of work to explore negative thoughts and how these thoughts impact our lives, yet DBT also incorporates skills to enhance emotion regulation as well. This includes mindfulness exercises and learning ways to accept a certain level of discomfort if changing our situation is not possible.
